One of the nicest parts of running HAYM is opening a delivery and knowing it hasn’t come off a production line. It’s come from someone’s studio, workshop or kitchen table - designed, made and packed by hand.
While not everything in the shop is handmade or made locally, a big part of what we do is supporting independent makers and bringing their work together alongside some of our favourite well-known brands.
We’ve had a lovely run of deliveries recently, so it felt like the right time to introduce some of the makers behind your favourites. Many of them are based right here on Scotland’s east coast, which makes it all the more special when their work lands in the shop.

Now, onto the makers.
Sefara Jewellery
Based in Edinburgh, Sefara Jewellery is handmade by Stephanie Mitchell and inspired by the colours and textures of the Scottish coastline. Working with polymer clay, each piece is shaped, baked and finished by hand, meaning no two are ever quite the same.
This latest delivery has brought in two new collections. One is more refined, with silver plated surrounds and delicate gold leaf crackle detail that catches the light beautifully. The other is a colourful twirl collection - playful, full of movement, and a bit of a standout.
They’re lightweight, easy to wear, and often the kind of piece people come back for after spotting them the first time.
Unique Keepers
Unique Keepers is created by Erika, who handcrafts each piece from wherever she happens to be in Scotland - currently travelling and living in her campervan.
Her designs are rooted in meaning, creating keepsakes that celebrate people, memories and moments.
The newest collection takes inspiration from seashells, crafted in pewter with a soft, natural finish. They’ve got a lovely weight to them and a timeless feel that makes them easy to gift.
These are the pieces people tend to take their time with - and usually come back for.
Loch & Loom
Based in Tayport, just along the coast from us, Loch & Loom creates handmade bags and accessories using Harris Tweed® woven in the Outer Hebrides.
There’s a real appreciation for Scottish craftsmanship in every piece, but what really stands out are the colour combinations and those striking coordinating linings inside. It’s that extra detail that makes them feel properly thought through.
They’re practical, durable and made to be used every day - not tucked away.
Mason & James
Based in St Andrews, Mason & James creates hand-painted pieces that bring a bit of personality into the home.
Their slogan planters and painted houses have become firm favourites, and this latest delivery includes new designs alongside the classics - including a log cabin-style house that’s already catching people’s eye.
Each piece is individually painted, which gives them that slightly imperfect charm that makes handmade feel special.
Ellys May
Ellys May jewellery is designed and made in Scotland, with inspiration drawn from both natural textures and urban landscapes like Glasgow and the Queensferry Crossing.
We’ve had a restock of favourites, including the textured hoop and chevron collections - pieces that are easy to wear but still feel considered.
They’re the kind of jewellery people reach for every day, whether it’s a gift or a well-deserved treat for themselves.
Jam Shed Co
Jamie from Jam Shed Co works right here in Carnoustie, creating pieces from his shed using reclaimed and industrial materials.
This latest delivery includes a range of industrial-style candle holders made from mild steel, with some finished in black satin. You can see the construction in each one - the structure, the joins, the materials - and that’s exactly what gives them their character.
They’re solid, functional, and completely individual. Nothing mass-produced, nothing overly polished.
