June has felt like a long month. It's been super busy in the shop and just as hectic at home, with a wee trip to London, end-of-term madness and, of course, plenty of football keeping us entertained too.
Despite all that, we've still managed to squeeze in some serious watching. This month's list has been a real mixed bag - proper chick flicks, 80s scandals, emotional dramas, gripping thrillers, complicated friendships and even a teen drama that proves middle-aged women still can't resist a good love triangle!
So, whether you're looking for something to watch now the schools are off, after the football finishes, or simply fancy a recommendation for your next night on the sofa, here's what we've been watching…
Voicemails for Isabelle (Film) Netflix
Well... this one absolutely broke me.
A woman leaves voicemail messages for her late sister, only for them to be accidentally received by a complete stranger hundreds of miles away.
Heartfelt, funny and incredibly emotional, this had me crying proper snotty tears. I don't think I'll ever hear Robyn's Dancing On My Own in quite the same way again.
One of those rare films that stays with you long after the credits roll.

- Best for: when you fancy a good cry (in the best possible way).
Proper chick flick alert!
This was an easy 10/10 for me. Brett Goldstein (of Ted Lasso fame) is brilliant, Jennifer Lopez is equally fantastic, and together they have amazing chemistry. With rumours they're now dating in real life, perhaps that explains why it feels so believable on screen.
The British humour sprinkled throughout was an added bonus and had me laughing out loud.
If you're looking for a proper feel-good film, this is it.

Rivals (Series) Disney+
One of my absolute favourites returned this month, and I was so excited to dive back into the world of Rutshire.
Set in the 1980s, the soundtrack is brilliant, the costumes are fantastic and the hairstyles deserve a special mention all of their own! While I don't think the storyline quite reached the heights of the first series, it's still a brilliant adaptation of Jilly Cooper's novels with the perfect mix of secrets, scandals and plenty of sauce.
I'm already looking forward to season three, especially because Freddie Jones, played by Danny Dyer, has become one of my favourite characters.

- Best for: anyone who loves a glamorous drama packed with larger-than-life characters.
The Four Seasons (Series) Netflix
I loved the first season, so I was hoping this one would live up to expectations - and thankfully it did.
I really like the format of eight episodes split across the four seasons, giving you little snapshots of the friendships as life moves on. It's heartfelt, funny in places and full of characters you genuinely care about.
One of those programmes that's just really easy to settle into.

- Best for: character-driven dramas with plenty of friendship and family dynamics.
Alice & Steve (Series) Disney+
The friendship between Alice and Steve is turned upside down when Steve starts dating Alice's daughter.
I absolutely loved this. It was funny, well written and a lovely reminder that getting older doesn't mean life suddenly becomes boring. It also celebrates platonic friendships, which I think we don't see enough of on television.
Random fact of the month... the actor who voices Tamatoa the crab in Moana really does speak like that in real life!
It works perfectly as a standalone series, but I'd happily watch more of this wonderfully complicated friend-enemy-friend relationship.

- Best for: character comedies with plenty of charm.
Everything I Know About Love (Series) BBCiPlayer
This follows four best friends navigating house shares, questionable dating decisions and all the ups and downs that come with finding your feet in your twenties.
I really loved this one. It made me laugh, it made me cringe, and it reminded me just how important good female friendships are.
My only disappointment was the ending. I was hoping everything would be wrapped up in a nice bow, but instead it left me with lots of unanswered questions. It definitely felt like it had been left open for another series, which sadly doesn't seem to be happening.

- Best for: anyone who enjoys friendship dramas with plenty of humour and heart.
Every Year After (Series) Prime
We've already had The Summer I Turned Pretty, My Life with the Walter Boys and Off Campus, so this is the latest teen drama to become strangely popular with middle-aged women!
There also seems to be a recurring theme with brothers…
At its heart it's a story about first love and wondering whether your soulmate really can be the person you've always come back to.
I didn't actually find either brother particularly swoon-worthy, which felt unusual for this kind of series, and the big secret was a little underwhelming. That said, I still really enjoyed it and happily watched it through to the end.

- Best for: fans of coming-of-age romances.
It Ends With Us (Film) Netflix
As a huge Gossip Girl fan, I've always wanted to love Blake Lively's films, but apart from A Simple Favour, none have really blown me away.
This one definitely changed that.
Based on Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, it's a powerful story that explores love, difficult choices and finding the strength to change your future. Blake was excellent, and it was so much more than the romance I was expecting.

- Vibe: emotional, romantic and thought-provoking
- Best for: fans of Colleen Hoover or romantic dramas with substance.
Apex (Film) Netflix
Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton star in this action thriller set in the Australian wilderness, where a climber seeking solitude suddenly finds herself fighting for survival.
There's one absolutely incredible sequence set to Go by The Chemical Brothers that had me completely hooked - it's one of those scenes that's worth watching the film for alone. The action keeps the pace moving throughout, with plenty of suspense and some stunning scenery, even if the overall storyline doesn't quite live up to that standout moment.
- Rating: 7/10
- Vibe: gripping, tense and action-packed
- Best for: anyone looking for an entertaining thriller with plenty of adrenaline and a brilliant soundtrack.
Tip Toe (Series) Channel 4
This couldn't be more different.
Starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey, it's a difficult and often uncomfortable watch from the very beginning.
What starts as seemingly ordinary neighbourly disagreements gradually spirals into something much darker, delivering a powerful message about prejudice, division and how quickly situations can escalate.
It's not one to watch with younger children, but it's exceptionally well acted and really stays with you afterwards.
- Rating: 8.5/10
- Vibe: tense, disturbing and thought-provoking
- Best for: viewers who don't mind darker, more challenging dramas.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder - Series 2 (Series) BBCiPlayer
I really enjoyed the first series, so I was looking forward to this.
Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into the second one. A couple of episodes in I found myself losing interest and eventually gave up.
Has anyone else watched it? Does it improve? I'd genuinely love to know if it's worth giving another chance.

I Will Find You (Series) Netflix
I've enjoyed every Harlan Coben adaptation I've watched, and thankfully this one didn't disappoint.
I actually switched it off during the first episode because it hadn't grabbed me, but I'm so glad I gave it another chance.
The story follows a father imprisoned for his son's murder after evidence emerges suggesting his child may still be alive. What follows is exactly what you'd hope for from Harlan Coben - twists, turns and plenty of moments where you think you've worked it out... only to realise you haven't.
- Rating: 9/10
- Vibe: gripping, twisty and addictive
- Best for: thriller fans who love a good mystery.
