Black Lino Print of the 'Tay Rail Bridge' in Dundee by BeeBirds
The Tay Bridge carries the railway across the Firth of Tay in Scotland between Dundee and Fife. It is the second bridge to occupy the site. The original bridge suddenly collapsed in high winds whilst a train was crossing, killing everybody on board. The incident which took place on 28th December 1879 is one of the worst bridge-related engineering disasters in history. It was replaced by a second bridge parallel to the remains of the first, parts of which are still visible.
